Because I knew how many stitches I could make with each skein, I determined that when I started color 4, I could go ahead and complete the sleeves with their cuff ribbing, rather than working the body’s color 4 and hoping I had enough yarn to work the sleeves with what was left.
Since I had 70 stitches in the sleeves and wanted to do 2×2 ribbing, I had to either decrease or increase 2 sts to get a multiple of 4 for my stitch pattern. I decided to increase, just for a little extra insurance that the edge would be a bit larger and not threaten to become a tourniquet.
Based on the results of swatching, I knew that 7 rounds of 2×2 ribbing were enough to stop the stockinette fabric from rolling in such a small-diameter tube. But just for a little extra insurance, I worked 10 rounds of ribbing before binding off.
Yarn Usage
After I finished the first sleeve, 90.28 g of color 4 remained, and after finishing the second sleeve, there were 81.28 g left.
I then worked the body’s rounds in color 4, continuing the body shaping increases every 9 rounds. I finished its 34 rounds with 19.72 g of yarn remaining.
